Hi, I’m Andie, and I’ll be your host.

Expect to learn weird and wonderful facts about our world, as well as the inner workings of the human body and mind. Sometimes the soul if I’m feeling particularly poetic.

I’m a science nerd. Originally, it was a fascination with natural health, which led to a thirty-some year career. But then we moved to Canada, and I took a different turn with my research.

I wanted to highlight the environment, but didn’t want it to be too bleak. How could I talk about climate without making my readers want to gouge out their eyes? Could I make it fun? A little spicy?

I created magical characters, starting with a furious warrior mermaid. Her clan struggles to survive beneath the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, and she gives us a view of her plastic-filled world.

It turns out that evil Fae want to reclaim the planet, and manipulate greedy human men to further their aims. If they can brainwash the humans into being subservient, well, it’s a walk in the park, right? Luckily for us, the secretive magical races are on the ball.

The Laughter of the Sun is an ongoing series. It starts with the award-winning debut, The Mermaid’s Wrath, followed by The Sorrow of Bees, and soon-to-be-released The Unbearable Melt. I’m currently researching bugs for book four.
